Who Am I?

I'm a writer. I'm a mother. I'm a lover of coffee and books and quiet moments. I'm always on the go, which is why sitting down to write - telling someone's story - gives me an immeasurable feeling of peace and calm. As for the numbers, I've collected more than a decade of experience in broadcast media, about seven years in copywriting, and served hundreds of businesses and organizations, in dozens of industries. I've worked with the smallest of small businesses to the brand names on the lips of every member of every household across the country. I have some niche experience in healthcare and non-profit, but my favorite thing about what I do is having the opportunity to learn a little about a lot. I'm a jack-of-all-trades, and a master of one. And that one just happens to be helping brands, businesses, people and organizations tell their story, the way it needs to be told.

Work Experience

September 2014 - Present

After the birth of my first son, I took the plunge and decided to launch my freelance career. I have had unbelievable success (ahem, luck) in connecting with some amazing agencies and organizations. I have worked with some of the best advertising and marketing agencies in central Indiana, and with some of the most prestigious organizations. I have written everything from video scripts to digital banners to SEO-optimized web content. My clients range from award-winning agencies to multi-million-dollar fundraising organizations, to some of the largest healthcare networks in the state.

March 2013 - July 2014

My time as a copywriter with Gannett at its Indianapolis Star office gave me an opportunity to serve a vast array of clients, all backed by the considerable power of Gannett's extensive portfolio of products and brands. I concepted, pitched, ideated, and wrote copy for dozens of clients, and worked extensively with them to identify gaps, find solutions and tell their story in a way that was true to their brand, their values and their goals.

December 2011 - March 2013

I transitioned to this role with Cox Media Group Ohio from my position in marketing, where I gained a significant amount of insight into strategy, audience and creative. Previously, I had served as a news anchor, community affairs director and public affairs coordinator with various arms of CMG, including radio and television. My move to the Client Solutions team was the opportunity I had been waiting for to provide custom creative to a wide portfolio of clients, both local and regional. During this time, I also became certified as a brainstorming and marketing strategy model facilitator, enabling me to serve our clients in a multitude of ways.
